A Message from Drew Levine
It is during these tense times that our customers need you, our officers, more than ever. In your role as a protector, you are often called upon to perform many duties, which may not be in your job description, but they are part of who we are as individuals and of our culture as an organization. You may be called upon to act as a peacekeeper, a medical assistant or maybe just a listener.
In June, G4S security officer Karen Hodge displayed compassion and may have saved a life in Nashville after coming to the aid of a distressed man who had been released from jail for protesting. The man dropped to his knees in the street and acted out in anger and frustration in front of officer Hodge and a Metro Nashville Police officer. Both began to speak with the agitated man and gave him water, a cold towel and CPO Hodge consoled him with a hug. The man was taken to a facility for help without incident. G4S is thankful for officer Hodge who showed compassion and helped a stranger in a moment of need.
Our customers are looking to you for help, for leadership and for the protection G4S is known to provide. The care and compassion you demonstrate in your role can make a huge difference in a variety of situations. On a weekly basis I hear of stories about our officers across the country who are saving lives, intervening in and preventing suicides, coming to the aid of people suffering from medical conditions while they’re alone in a public setting or providing a kind word to someone who needs to hear it.
This is especially important right now as our customers and the public at large navigate the coronavirus pandemic, civil unrest and other tense situations happening throughout the country. People are frustrated and concerned on many individual levels, your efforts to carry our Dignity and Respect values to everyone you come into contact with will go a long way in providing the calm that many people need. These are incredibly important responsibilities and you are making a big difference. The feedback from our customers on the services we provide has been positive and uplifting. I am proud of our security officers and how you have managed during these times.
Please continue to take the necessary precautions to slow the spread of COVID-19. Use face coverings, maintain safe social distance from others, wash your hands as often as possible, avoid those who may have any symptoms of illness and isolate yourself if you are sick to help keep our teams, customers and our communities healthy. The safety of our employees and customers is our top priority and will continue to guide our actions.
Thank you for all you do to keep our customers and the public safe. Please continue to stay safe and well.
President, G4S Secure Solutions
